Upcoming Open Houses and Tours
Recruitment nights for prospective families will be held at Wintergreen on January 10th, 2018 and March 14, 2018 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. You can also get information at the New Haven Public Schools Choice Expo.
Tours are offered every Wednesday, starting January 31st through April 11, at 9:00 a.m.
Each sending town conducts their own lottery for Wintergreen applicants. Please see the information below for each sending town.
Completed applications must be returned to Hamden Public School's Central Office (60 Putnam Avenue) by February 16th, 2018. You may download an application by going to https://www.hamden.org or stopping by Hamden Central Office to pick up an application. Note that the majority of placements are at the kindergarten level, however, a small number of openings at other grade levels will also be made. Children must be 5 years old by December 31, 2018 in order to be considered for admission to the kindergarten class. You MUST drop off the application to the Hamden Board of Education or mail it to them before the deadline. Questions? Please contact Wendy Ocone at 203-407-2202.
Applications will be available - date to be determined - online at http://www.meridenk12.org or in the Office of the Associate Superintendent for all students in both public and private school entering grades K-8 in the next school year (2018-2019) and interested in participating in the Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School lottery. A lottery will be held for the limited number of openings in several grade levels. Please realize, even if your child has a sibling who will be at the school, you must still file an application. Once a student is placed at WIMS, parents/students waive their right to an automatic placement in the district school that serves their home address. All students applying to Wintergreen must submit a Magnet School application. Submit applications to the Magnet Office at 54 Meadow Street or apply online at www.newhavenmagnetschools.com or choice.nhps.net. Do not submit your application to the school or school personnel. If any information on the application is not the same information on file in the Registration Office, the Magnet Application will be returned to you. The application process will close on February 16th, 2018.

Magnet School Parent Choice Program
Recent legislation passed by the Connecticut General Assembly (Sec. 42, P.A. 07-3) provides the possibility for Interdistrict Magnet School operators that have unused seats to enroll interested students directly into their program. Preference is given to a student from a district that is not already participating in the Interdistrict Magnet School. Area Cooperative Educational Servies (ACES) is accepting applications for a lottery for availabe seats in two of our magnet schools. They are: Thomas Edison Middle School (grade 6-8) in Meriden, and Wintergreen Interdistrict Magnet School (grades K-8) in Hamden. Applications will be availabe March 1, 2018.

For this program, parents must provide transportation for children.
